Top fashion tips for Mothers of the Bride or Groom. – Ela Maria

Top fashion tips for Mothers of the Bride or Groom.

Below are a few of the FAQ's that we get here at Ela Maria's about shopping for the perfect Mother of the Bride or Groom outfit.

Question:

I don't want the typical "Mother of the Bride" look. Can you suggest something different?

Answer:

Most mothers don't want the 'typical Mother of the Bride Look' and while we have a floor dedicated to Occasion Dressing it sometimes looks a bit daunting to see all the outfits together and some outfits tend to look suited to an older  generation when they are on a hanger. It’s not until they are on a person that they come to life and even the most simple of dresses can look stunning when paired with a hat and accessories. The best advice we can give is to be completely open and try things you would never normally try.

Question:

I prefer stronger shades but most of the occasion outfits tend to be in soft shades, why is this and how do I choose the right colour?

Answer:

The majority of wedding outfits are focused on soft muted tones, as lighter tones often compliment the wedding party very well and look good in pictures, with lighter colours, it is about finding the right tone for your complexion more than dismissing them totally. We always have a good selection of stronger shades in store or many outfits may be re-ordered in stronger shades if your chosen style is not in store. Our advice is just to make sure you don't have clashing stronger colours.

Question:

How long do i need to allow for shopping for my outfit?

Answer:

There is a vast range of styles and colours, so it’s better to have time rather than feel rushed and make a wrong decision. Many customers try on up to 10 styles so we would advise to allow yourself up to 2 hours. You can call us on 069-62855 to book an appointment for our Mother of the Bride or Groom collection.

Question:

I'm a different size on top than on the bottom. What advice do you have for someone like me when shopping for an occasion wear outfit?

Answer:

When shopping for an occasion wear outfit most women will need an alteration of some kind, whether its a simple pin tuck or shortening of a hemline or having the top or bottom of your outfit adjusted to achieve the perfect fit. We offer a full alteration service, your alteration charge is determined by the length of time it takes to do the work.
